    Orchestral maneuvers in the Philippines

    The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) is a pretty tale as old as OPM (Original Pilipino Music). For context, it was created in 1973, the year the album “Himig Natin” by Juan de la Cruz Band, which spawned the classic single of the same title, came out. That point in history marked the birth of Pinoy Rock and the formation of one of the top musical ensembles in the Asia-Pacific region.

    PPO recreates its first-ever concert

    After its successful metamorphosis on its recently concluded 38th concert season, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra turns gold. Established in 1973, the country’s leading orchestra looks back at its humble beginnings through its PPO 50th Anniversary Gala slated on May 12, 8pm, at the Metropolitan Theater, the temporary home of the PPO while the CCP Main Building is undergoing rehabilitation.
